Following some recent player drops, we have a number of wolf-dogs that are now in the world without owners. These are primarily from a litter of wolf-dogs via Scout, the dog of a now-deceased NPC, and Diefenbaker, owned by Benton Fraser. The wolf-dogs are a little over a year old at this point (with the exception of Scout, who is an older dog and far more well-trained) and have had training.
There are five dogs in total for players who would like to have their character adopt one of them.
Scout — an Alaskan Malamute, previously owned by Young Bill and then adopted by Fraser. the most well-behaved as the older dog. She's got a good temperament; calm, protective and well trained as Young Bill took her out hunting, etc. — adopted by Fitzjames.
Nova — a wolf-dog of Scout and Dief's litter, previously owned by Young Bill and then adopted by Fraser. She is much like her mother, but lacks the experience/training due to age. She's a good temperament, chill, well mannered and will listen to basic commands. — adopted by Maelle.
Brock — a wolf-dog of Scout and Dief's litter, adopted by Fraser. Brock is the strongest/biggest out of Brock, Mackenzie and Boris. Boris, Mackenzie, and Brock spent a lot of time together and know each other well. They should all respond to basic commands and be well-mannered. Fraser fed them but they know how to hunt, also. — Adopted by Freddie.
Mackenzie — a wolf-dog of Scout and Dief's litter, adopted by Fraser. A female dog. Boris, Mackenzie, and Brock spent a lot of time together and know each other well. They should all respond to basic commands and be well-mannered. Fraser fed them but they know how to hunt, also. — Adopted by Max.
Boris — a wolf-dog of Scout and Dief's litter, adopted by Fraser. Boris is a little mischievous and was Sveta's particular pet. Boris, Mackenzie, and Brock spent a lot of time together and know each other well. They should all respond to basic commands and be well-mannered. Fraser fed them but they know how to hunt, also. — Adopted by John Doe
0/5 Remaining.
While this is optional, it would be nice continuity to keep the animals in the world if anyone would like to adopt one!
...I would tentatively like to let John meet and potentially adopt one of the dogs! Any of them you think would be more or less likely (from current characterization of them) to react less poorly to John?
James will take one since he's been thinking about a pet for ages and now it's a perfect excuse. Do they have any established personalities/looks/etc that would make a difference in choosing one/should be known for continuity stuff?
In truth, I don't know much about the characterisation of the pups except Nova since she was owned by Young Bill previously, and I'm unsure of what previous players would have written about them! I think in a case like that it's happy to handwave tbh!
As mentioned in the previous comment, I don't know much about the characterisation of the dogs except Scout and Nova since they were owned by Young Bill previously, and I'm unsure of what previous players would have written about them! Lorna did have Fraser training the dogs to be sled dogs, however!
Scout, the Malamute, is the most well-behaved as the older dog. She's got a good temperament; calm, protective and well trained as Young Bill took her out hunting, etc. He'd begun the same process for Nova before his death, but she's obviously less so and still a younger dog.
Then let's say 'signed up for a puppy' and if folks have specifics they'd like, he'll end up with whoever's left. (That also just feels right that John'd want the one left over.)
The three pups aside from Nova don't have much characterization, but Brock and Boris are boys, Mackenzie is a girl. Boris is a little mischievous and was Sveta's particular pet. Brock is the biggest/strongest of the pups.
All pups were trained by Fraser to an age-appropriate amount with an ultimate goal of turning them into a sled team (though they were too young for real sled team training so he hadn't gotten to that yet). Boris, Mackenzie, and Brock spent a lot of time together and know each other well. They should all respond to basic commands and be well-mannered. Fraser fed them but they know how to hunt, also.
I'll let others have first dibs, but if no one else wants Mackenzie, Wynonna will take her!
John would never decide what someone should be named and wouldn't dream of 'renaming' him. Boris he shall remain until Boris himself says different (which I doubt will happen :)

Also sure, Wynonna can have Mackenzie if there's no other takers!

EDIT: editing to note that Lorna has stated for Boris to keep his name and to not have it changed.
