1. One of the items that I am planning to have Shao Anjun bring with him is his herbalism supplies. This is a satchel that contains various herbs, salts, tonics, etc. for curing illness or healing injuries. I source all of this material from real works of ancient Chinese medicine like the Classic of Medicine and the Treatise On Cold Damage Diseases (yes, that really is its name, it's very pertinent to this setting!), which means that it's all basically leaves and berries and stuff found in nature. My question is this: is there any limit to how effective these materials will be as treatments? Will Shao Anjun's herbs act like they do in a lot of wuxia stories (AKA, they always work perfectly unless the plot calls for keeping a character unwell), or will they work more like they would in real life (AKA, they generally have helpful properties, but they're nowhere near as effective as modern synthesized medicine)?
2. Shao Anjun is a werewolf, but as a child, he was hit with a curse that prevented him from transforming. This was okay during most times, when his body was just as comfortable in human form as in wolf form. However, there are certain times when he was compelled to transform into a wolf, mostly times when a new moon or overcast night sky made the natural world around him very dark. Under the effects of the curse his body could not transform as it was being compelled to, and this caused him to suffer from spasms and intense pain. As he grew older he and his best friend figured out how to circumvent the curse, but they were never able to remove it entirely. Given that shapeshifting and magic in general are both nerfed in this setting, does that mean that both his wolf form and the effects of the curse are nerfed? Or can I allow Shao Anjun's body to act like it did before he learned to outsmart the curse, limiting him to his human form but also giving him his pain reaction to situations in which he would otherwise be compelled to transform? (Obviously I'd prefer the latter for the sake of The Drama, but I'll go with whatever makes most sense!)
